Water Walking
A gentle non-impact water class using all water walking movements to achieve a mild cardio workout. A short abdominal strengthening and stretching section will balance out this workout. A good entry level class for the new exerciser, or the person who needs a non-impact workout.
Water Aerobics
A fun aggressive workout using high and low impact exercises to challenge all levels of fitness. Cardio, abdominal, strength and stretching is the focus.
It is recommended that all participants wear foot covering and shower before entering the pool. The pool is maintained at 84-85 degrees. Please sign in when attending class. Notify your instructor if this is your first class.
Aqua Power
Our most active and challenging water fitness class! This class is geared toward participants with high level of fitness in mind. A longer, high to moderate, cardio session followed by a challenging abdominal and strength training routine. Come ready to work out! (Who said water class is easy!)
Swimnastics
A combination class of low, moderate and high level exercise to challenge your cardio, strength, abdominal and stretching exercise routine. The participant can modify to their needs.
Prenatal
A specialized water class for pre and postnatal women. Focus is on safe, low impact cardio and strengthening exercise to maintain optimal fitness throughout and after the pregnancy. Your doctors permission is required to take this class.
Aqua Arthritis
This class follows the National Arthritis Foundation Guidelines. The focus is on range of motion exercise for all joints. A short cardio section followed by gentle stretching. This is an excellent class for anyone with any type of arthritis, recovery from an injury or surgery or an entry level exerciser. Your doctors permission is required to attend this class.
Saturday Aquatic Circuit Training
Get a jump on your Saturday morning with this energizing mix of strength training and swimming. Class is open to all levels of fitness and is led by our certified aquatic instructors.

Free to MembersYouth Winter Swim Lessons
The Yakima Athletic Club’s swim lesson program runs year round and is taught by WSI certified instructors. We use the Red Cross levels in all our classes from preschool ages on up (3-14).
All classes are 30 minutes. Payment due at the time of registration.
Preschool Classes 1 - 3
For children ages 3 - 5 who are ready for formal instruction in a class atmosphere. Preschool classes have no more than 4 students per instructor.
Level 1 - 6
Instruction for children 6 - 14 using Red Cross lesson format. Level classes generally have a 5 student per instructor ratio.

The Yakima Athletic Club takes pride in its private swim lesson program. Just as our instructors for group lessons, our private swim lesson instructors are WSI certified, progressive and responsible instructors. Private lessons allow the instructor to work on specific skills that cater to the individual. We also offer semi-private lessons.
Senior Instructor: A senior instructor has been teaching for 1 or more years, has their Water Safety Instructor certification and/or their United States Swimming Coaching certification with additional competitive swimming experience.
Base Rate: $25 / 30 minutes
Semi Private: Base rate plus $10 each additional person

Parent Tot Swim
Parent Tot swim class is a chance for the parent and child (6 months up to 3 years) to get into the water together in a group setting. This group lesson introduces the child to floating, kicking and becoming familiar with the water in a fun and comfortable environment.

Open to anyone 16 years or older, the Red Cross WSI class sponsored by and held at Yakima Athletic Club trains you to teach swimming
lessons and other aquatic classes nationwide. This 40 hour class includes both time in the water, instructional time with children, and video segments. Certifications do not expire if you continue to teach and submit class information. If you are interested in teaching swim classes, this is the program for you!Class Schedule: TBA

Competitive Stroke – Ages 5-18
Competitive Stroke Skill Enhancement: refines the four competitive strokes (butterfly, back crawl, breaststroke, and front crawl/freestyle) with a focus on efficiency and power for competitive events. Competitive swimming skills including turns, starts, and streamlining. Students must know all four strokes before entering class as this class does not introduce the strokes, the focus is on refinement of the strokes.Monday and Wednesday 6:00-6:30 pm

YAC Swimming is a non-profit club swimming program. The YAC Swim Team contracts to use the facilities at the Yakima Athletic Club.
YAC Swimming's mission is to provide the finest competitive swimming instruction in Central Washington by offering competitors of all ages and abilities the opportunity to improve their technical ability, psychological skills and physical conditioning in a goal-oriented environment where swimmers learn to swim well and race with confidence.
Coached by Amy Hinze, YAC Swimming is actively recruiting swim team participants ages 5 yrs on up through college age. For more information, visit the YAC Swimming website.

Lifeguard Rec Swim
Washington State Law States: Children fifteen years of age or younger, can only use our aquatic facility during Lifeguard Hours. A responsible adult, eighteen years of age or older, shall accompany the children and be in the pool or on the pool deck at all times the children use the facility.
When the pool is used by persons from fifteen to seventeen years of age, at least two people fifteen years of age or older must be in the pool or on the pool deck at all times the persons use the aquatic facility. A lifeguard does not have to be present.
Persons age seventeen and older may use the aquatic facility during business hours, see aquatic schedule for available times

Children under the age of 15 may only swim during lifeguard hours.
Tuesday & Thursday Friday Saturday & Sunday 6:30-8:30 pm 5:30pm – 8:30 pm 1:00-4:00 pm Pool Lane Use
Adult swim lap lanes are available throughout the day. When multiple users are in each lane, circle swim so that more than two users can use the pool. Proper etiquette procedures are to enter the lane, wait and talk to the current user, confirm circle swim and start your workout. It is not uncommon to have 4 - 6 users in one lane.
